La Unión Alcoyana, Sociedad Anónima de Seguros y Reaseguros was founded on the 25th of July 1877 and is regulated by the Law 30/1995 of the 8th of November regarding the regulation and supervision of private insurance, by the regulations set out by the said Law and by other provisions currently in force.

Nowadays, Unión Alcoyana works in Non-Life business, mainly focussing on three areas:

1. Industrial risks
2. Property Protection
3. Property risks

History

Unión Alcoyana was founded on the 25th of July 1877 with the name "La Unión Alcoyana, Sociedad Anónima de Seguros" with the aim of “insuring against involuntary fires and at a fixed premium urban and rural properties as well as industrial buildings and goods, machinery and furniture included together with the objects that were considered to be allowed in accordance with its Articles”. This clearly industrial nature, along with the flexibility that Unión Alcoyana proved to possess right from the beginning, are the characteristics that have made Unión Alcoyana become a focal point in the Spanish insurance sector as well as the oldest insurance company in the market with the same name.
